Chris Carter Talks The X-Files, Canceled and Future Spin-offs
The creator of "The X-Files," Chris Carter, was recently a guest on a Danish podcast, "Sammensværgelsen." During the interview, he discussed various topics, from the show's early intentions to its future.
During a different interview, Chris Carter mentioned that Ryan Coogler may be involved in a project, but he was instructed not to disclose further information as Fox Television is planning to make a significant announcement. Carter acknowledged that Fox has complete ownership of the show and can pursue whatever they please, but he clarified that he will not be participating in the future project.
Confirming its cancellation, Christ Carter stated that "The X-Files: Albuquerque," an animated show, did not work without Mulder and Scully, and despite the contributions of humorous writers, he felt that it was not the type of show he desired without the duo.
Another abandoned spinoff centered around the Cigarette Smoking Man character, and Chris Carter and his team put forth significant effort in persuading Fox to proceed with it. Despite this, they eventually opted against it, but Carter noted that Glenn Morgan excelled at proposing the concept, which emerged following season 11.
Carter expressed that he always imagined there would be more "X-Files" and hoped for resolution on various open questions from season 11, Gillian Anderson's decision not to continue shooting stopped his further plans.
