So when’s the next season of X-Files coming out? Well… maybe
never. But knowing that Vince Gilligan would jump aboard a revival may
help convince Fox to make the play!
The X-Files (1993-2002) is widely considered one of the most
iconic, genre-defining sci-fi series of all time. With nine seasons and
several movies (of varying quality) under its belt, Chris Carter’s
franchise has built up a considerable fanbase.
And considering that Hollywood is all about remakes these days, it’s
not out of the realm of possibility for Fox to be considering bringing
back X-Files. Especially considering the fact that main stars
Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have both expressed an interest in
reprising their roles.
And now, writer Vince Gilligan – whose name you might know from a little show called Breaking Bad – has also revealed that he’d like to revisit the show that launched hia career.
“I would love to be involved,” Gilligan tells The X-Files Lexicon. “The thought that there could be more episodes of The X-Files is very exciting to me indeed.”
Of course with Better Call Saul and other projects, Gilligan’s return – if the X-Files were indeed re-opened – wouldn’t be a given.
“I don’t know with my current schedule, if I necessarily could be
involved, but I got to tell you I hope that is the case,” he says.
“Absolutely if I knew I could do it, I would love to be a part of it,
but even if I am not, you can know for a fact that I’ll be watching
every episode and rooting them on, and being very much the fanboy that I
started, in regards to The X-Files.”
