There aren’t many people who love The X-Files more than Kumail Nanjiani. The Silicon Valley star has long been a trusted X-Files expert, and he even hosts a podcast The-X Files Files dedicated to discussing and analyzing individual episodes. And over the weekend, Nanjiani tweeted that his dreams were finally
coming true: He’s going to be an in episode of the revived series.
Nanjiani shared a few pictures from the set — including a few with
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson — and he confirmed that he’ll be
appearing in an episode written and directed by his “favorite writer”
Darin Morgan. Interestingly, Nanjiani is wearing an animal control
officer jacket in the pictures, and sure, there’s almost no chance that
he’s connected to one of the series’ most notorious villains,
liver-eating animal control officer Eugene Tooms, but hey, we can dream.
He also added that while on set, he recorded Duchovny and Anderson
reminiscing about their time on the show, and he hopes to share it on
his podcast soon.

I had been trying to stay calm & approach it like any other job. And then I freaked out soon as I saw this. pic.twitter.com/reBKXIlXQ4

I got to be in an ep of my favorite show (X Files) written & directed by my favorite writer (Darin Morgan.) And this script is wonderful.

So I did. I recorded them swapping stories, laughing. I don't know how the quality is cuz it was on my phone. But I hope to release it soon.

We were shooting nights. It was 3 AM. Gillian & David were reminiscing about the show. She looked at me & said "You should record this."

Ok I'll say 1 last thing. David & Gillian were truly kind, welcoming & hilarious. Great people. Now back to your regularly scheduled irony.
