Dr. Anne Simon is a science advisor in the field of biology on the The X-Files. The first episode that she provided science consultation was on the first season finale "The Erlenmeyer Flask". She became involved with the series through her connection as a family friend of series creator Chris Carter. She wrote a 2001 book about the biological science of the show, The Real Science Behind the X-Files: Microbes, Meteorites and Mutants. She is a professor at the University of Maryland, College Park in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. Her primary research is connected with virology.
Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are
teaming up again as “The X-Files” prepares to debut new television
episodes in January 2016, and Dr. Simon tells
WTOP that much of the science in this science-fiction show is actually
true.
