Working on new episodes of 'The X-Files,' which went off the air over a
decade ago, was challenging, he said. "There was a tough balancing act
to do – satisfying the diehard fans that are the reason we are able to
continue to do it…but also you don’t just want to repeat, you don’t want
to just make a show where you’re tossing off lines that everybody
loves, and people applaud because they’re hearing something familiar.""We’ve
got a smart reinvention of our mythology stories, plus, we’ve got some
stand-alone, scary, monster-of-the-week, type episodes, and I think it’s
a nice balance."
He wouldn’t let on if his character and Gillian Anderson’s character,
Dana Scully, are romantically involved in the new show but he did tell
Allison there were actually words to the famous theme song."The X-Files is a show," he sang. "With music by Mark Snow." "That’s it."
