The 2015 – 2016 season brings “must-see” entertainment, with a vast swath of great programming to tide us over until our favorite shows come back in the spring. This week, as the last of the fall shows go into their break, and here is the list of the most anticipated shows of the coming winter. The X Files is on the top of this list.

#8: Lucifer (January 25th)
#7: The Shannara Chronicles (January 5th)
#6: Vinyl (February 14th)
#5: Transparent (December 11th)
#4: Legends of Tomorrow (January 21st)
#3: Agent Carter (January 19th)
#2: Better Call Saul (February 15th)
#1: The X-Files (January 24th)

Fox’s sci-fi procedural was a landmark series for genre fans, doing for science fiction on TV what Heroes did for superhero shows in terms of credibility. And even though the final season and films felt like a letdown compared to the heights of the show, it remains high-water mark for genre TV. That’s what makes the series’ revival thirteen years after the original show’s run such a highly-anticipated event. With just six episodes there is going to be a lot for Chris Carter and his people to pack in, but there’s every confidence that it can be done. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are sure to bring the goods for Mulder and Scully and the returning cast is an impressive group that includes Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner, William B. Davis as Cigarette-Smoking Man, Annabeth Gish as Monica Reyes, the Lone Gunmen and more.
