Gillian Anderson Discusses Scully's Style Evolution

After 13 years off the air, The X-Files will return to TV with six new episodes this month, with stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny returning to play their iconic characters. “I feel like we didn’t end on the right note before,” Anderson told InStyle at The Weinstein Company and Netflix Golden Globes after-party. “I feel like we’re giving the audience something that they wanted for a long time, which is actually more than what we could have given them in a single feature.”

Thirteen years is a long time, and much has changed in the world of fashion. So how will Dana Scully’s style evolve? Anderson brought on board the costume designer from Hannibal to bring Scully’s “limited” wardrobe into the next decade. “I like the direction that she’s at. It’s very classic,” Anderson said. The designer respected “the demure aspects of her wardrobe” and still managed to have fun with the character’s style.
