Gillian Anderson on Scully, future of The X-Files, activism and her face

Actress Gillian Anderson took some time to adjust to how her X-Files character Dana Scully had aged when she reprised the role.

“It felt very good to step back into her shoes – and clothes,” she told Britain’s OK! magazine. “But it took some time for me to feel comfortable with this older version of her. My mind was still locked into her younger self. I had to approach her differently and reflect that she’d been on another kind of journey since working with Mulder. A lot had changed in both their lives.“  Read more: The Belfast Telegraph

The X Files revival is currently going on, so speaking of envision more adventures of Mulder and Scully to come, Gillian explained:

“Um … I don’t know. I’ve got three kids and I live in London, and if they want to shoot in Vancouver, British Columbia, or Los Angeles, I’m not really interested in moving. It all depends on what they’re talking about, how many they’re talking about and what they’re offering. All that stuff plays into it, because it’s not a small deal in my life.“  Read more: Zap2It

There were seven years between the last film and the revival miniseries, so you can understand why Anderson forgot what she really loved about the redhead skeptic.

"What I've come to appreciate of her, in light of a lot of the other tough female characters I've played—and I forgot this about her until coming back to it—is there's a lightness and a playfulness and a girlishness that I don't really have an opportunity to play, or don't make the choice to play…," Anderson told E! News when we visited set in August. "So I've been appreciating that in her."  Read more: E! Online

Gillian Anderson knows a thing our two about aliens thanks to her many years playing Special Agent Dana Scully on The X-Files, but she wasn't familiar with the now-classic game "F—k, Marry, Kill." That is until E! News took to the Vancouver set. Anderson quickly became an expert.

"I'm marrying Chewbacca definitely. I'm sorry, but he is my favorite. Marry Chewbacca…See, I always loved the original Doctor with the curly hair and the scarf. OK, I'd f--k him, marry Chewbacca [Laughs.] and kill—sorry, don't want to kill a sister, but killing the sister [Supergirl]."  Read more: E! Online

Gillian listened to reading demonstrations from pupils at the William Tyndale Primary School in Islington to launch this year’s Read Aloud campaign. Read Aloud is a reading recovery programme designed to raise awareness of children’s literacy issues. It is being led by the International Literacy Centre.

Ms Anderson said: “It’s an honour to be able to support Reading Recovery Read Aloud, and to witness first-hand how children such as those at William Tyndale Primary School have benefited from the work done by the ILC. “These children have not just learned to read, they now have the confidence to let their voices be heard.”  Read more: Schools Week

X-Files star and pop singer Pink have finally announced a collaboration—convincing the Council to vote in support of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s plan to corral the city’s horse carriages inside Central Park, in a campaign set to launch tomorrow.

“I love New York, but I’m astonished that the city still allows shackled horses to dodge taxis, buses, and police cars every day,” the message from Ms. Anderson will say, recalling statistics from the administration that 15 horses had suffered collisions with vehicles over the past five years. “Last year’s police report on the dozens of awful accidents was no surprise. Congested cities as diverse as Toronto, Mumbai, and San Juan have reined in the dangerous carriage trade. Please do the same in New York by voting for the bill that keeps the horses in the park,” Gillian stated.   Read more: Observer

Letters Live is a “celebration of the enduring power of literary correspondence” started by independent publisher Canongate after the success of Shaun Usher’s bestselling book Letters of Note. After a sellout run in 2015, it has been established as annual event in which performers read letters from famous people and historical moments, with the line-up remaining secret until the event starts.

Across seven shows at the Freemasons’ Hall in London’s Covent Garden in March, Cumberbatch, Anderson and Brand will be joined by the likes of actors Sir Ian McKellen, Jude Law, Dominic West and Geoffrey Palmer; writer Caitlin Moran, author Hanif Kureishi, former-Liberty director Shami Chakrabarti, musicians Jarvis Cocker, Tom Odell and James Rhodes; and comedians Matt Berry and John Bishop.

Gillian Anderson said she was “delighted to return to the Letters Live stage.”  Read more: The Guardian

Daily Mail made a long article about Gillian's face, stating: "With her glowing, dewy skin, full pink lips and miraculously wrinkle-free skin, the actress barely looked a day over 30 – let alone her full 47 years." In this, so called "BotoX Files: plastic surgery or claver make-up", journalist Sarah Rainey talked with experts in cosmetic surgery, who are not completely sure about her. But, with a picture of changed face parts, you can find terms like: "possible surgery", "suggestion of", "hints that", "appears", "may have"... Pretty convenient professional terms for experts, right?

Even though some people are convinced in this, with statements like "The aliens clearly implanted a lot of Botox in Scully’s face" on social networks, others made sharp remarks: "Daily Fail", "What kind of bulls*it is this", or "Her forehead did bloody wrinkle and the wig/spirit-gum would have dragged her skin at the hairline and neck..."

Anderson herself spoke about this issue couple of years ago, admitting that it ‘does cross my mind’. Anyhow, what is Gillian's response? Check her tweets bellow:

Yes, but actually... No.
