Actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson each posted a photo of themselves bending the knee in character on the second season of The X-Files revival series. They join the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Shonda Rhimes, Ice Cube, Diddy, and John Legend in supporting the football stars who refused to stand for the National Anthem in protest of racial injustice and President Trump’s remarks.
Trump had used a stump speech in Alabama on Friday to reignite the controversy surrounding former 49ers player Colin Kaepernick. “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, say: ‘Get that son of a b—ch off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired,'” the president said.
Stevie Wonder, Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery), and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder were among the celebrities physically taking a knee in solidarity with the players.
